Octopus 2
The Octopus levels are an exciting series of 3 progressive awards specifically designed for school aged children. Our children's swimming lessons for beginners are fun, confidence building classes in a nurturing environment. Our teachers are highly trained and understand how to work with children to motivate and encourage them to achieve.
The Octopus 2 class is appropriate for swimmers who are confident in putting their faces in the water, and who can push and glide, swimming approximately half the length of our pool (3 metres) on their front and back unaided. During front swimming, their arms should clear the water.
We offer both shallow and middle-tier Octopus 2 classes. The shallow Octopus 2 class takes place in the shallow end of the pool, where the water depth ranges from 0.9 to 1.1 metres; this class is especially suitable for smaller or younger swimmers who are not yet ready to move into the middle or deeper water. Once they gain more confidence, participants can transition to the middle Octopus 2 class, which is conducted in the middle section of the pool, where the water depth ranges from 1.1 to 1.3 metres.

How much does it cost
Our swimming terms run alongside West Sussex School term and usually run for 6 weeks. The cost of the 6-week term is £87. If a swimmer starts after the term has started this will be adjusted.
Please note we are fully booked and running waiting lists for this level.
How many swimmers in a class?
We can accommodate a maximum of six swimmers in the water with a single Level 2 Instructor. Whenever possible, we will also aim to have a second staff member present in the water to provide assistance. This additional team member may be another qualified staff member or one of our water assistants.
